      William Holbrook Beard (1825-1900) is known for his caricatures and for humorously anthropomorphized animals. With marksmanship as accurate as it is funny, Beard’s satirical paintings are equally witty and thought-provoking. Despite his lack of formal art training, the self-taught Beard’s work was greatly en vogue.
