By portraying non-idealized imperfect female bodies, showing women in situations and aspects previously ignored, and by observing the male nude with an aloof, objective eye Her male nudes are not the embodiment of heroism, strength, or the brave striving human spirit; nor, though attractive, are they symbols of beauty, They simply are another element in the still life.

Edelheit's paintings have been described as a "straight-forward form of seeing suffused with a lyrical and poetic vision" mingling together the figures with the setting, which are usually urban landscapes. One painting, for instance, shows male and female nudes idling in Central Park with the Empire State Building looming in the background.
