Product InformationAndy Warhol (1923 – 1987), founder of Pop Art, created his mass-produced silk-screens in a New York studio called The Factory. In the 1960s and 70s, the famous and infamous, including Dorothy Podler, hung out there. Warhol had just finished a series of “Marilyn” canvases when Podler asked if she could shoot them, and not fully understanding, he agreed. Podler then brandished a revolver and fired into the images, which were named the “Shot Marilyn Paintings.” This art print displays sharp, vivid images with a high degree of color accuracy. A member of the versatile family of art prints, this high-quality reproduction represents the best of both worlds: quality and affordability. Art prints are created on paper similar to that of a postcard or greeting card using a digital or offset lithography press. About the ArtistAndy Warhol (1923 – 1987), one of the 20th century’s most creative, prolific and influential artists, defined a decade and a culture with his groundbreaking Pop Art. Initially a popular Manhattan commercial artist, Warhol achieved fame with his multiple images of soup cans, soda bottles, dollar bills and celebrities, which revealed the beauty within mass culture. Innovator of silkscreening, Warhol’s talents also encompassed filmmaking, music production, commercial illustration, writing and magazine publishing. © AllPosters
