Product InformationEnvironmental artists Christo and his wife, Jean-Claude, created “The Gates” as a study for their huge 2005 installation project in New York’s Central park. On view for 16 days, the project featured saffron-colored fabric draped over 7,500 16-feet tall gateways along 23 miles of park walkways. “The Gates” represent openings in the park’s stone wall that were originally designed to enclose steel gates when the park was built. “The Gates,” a fluid vision of an immense accomplishment, can stand on its own as evocative art. This fine art print was produced in an unknown edition size. Special edition poster created by Christo for the The Gates Project in Central Park, New York that took place in February 2004. Printed on heavy quilted paper, the poster is not signed and not numbered. Condition A: Mint About the ArtistChristo is a Bulgarian-born environmental installation artist, known for wrapping famous buildings and landmarks with plastic and fabric sheets. He initially wrapped small items, so they would become aesthetically pleasing when their function was hidden. For 30 years, he has collaborated with wife Jeanne-Claude on large-scale installations. Christo and Jeanne-Claude strongly support displaying art outside, so it can reach the largest audience possible. © AllPosters
